The Kavallieri women’s rugby squad kicked off their pre-season training ahead of the new campaign, which gets underway this weekend, some six weeks ago.

Training was conducted by fitness coaches Roderick Attard and Daryl Psaila as the players sought to improve their physical condi-tion despite the hot weather prevailing this autumn.

The outcome at the end of pre-season was a positive one, with all players in the squad able to reap the benefits of their hard training.

For the fourth consecutive season, Susan Bradley will be the Kavallieri girls’ head coach. Last year she led the team to the Ben Bennett 7s championship and the MIA 10s Cup.

Focus has now shifted to game drills and tactics to get the team ready for competition.

Players with varying levels of experience will be in the team this season, including some new-comers who have joined the club in pre-season.

The objective of the Kavallieri girls this season, apart from retaining the titles won in 2011-12, will be to increase participation in the local game and to en-hance team spirit and camaraderie within the squad.

The Kavallieri girls are backed by the sponsorships of Megaman, Camray, Halmann, PKF and Mirachem.

Other support comes from IDS Fund Services Malta and Continental Cars.

The club also provides regular rugby training sessions at mini, youth and senior levels.
