Helen Grech recently received recognition for her leadership of a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship project entitled Communication Disorders in the Maltese Child Population, sponsored by the EU Seventh Framework Programme.

The aim of the project was to develop and standardise a speech and language assessment that can identify children with speech and language disorders in Malta. Prof. Grech completed the project following her appointment as a research fellow at the University of Limerick’s School of Health Sciences, Ireland.

Prof. Grech, head of the University’s Department of Communication Therapy, received the award as one of Ireland’s Champions of EU Research. The ceremony presided over by Irish President Michael Higgins.
