Red Bull Formula One championship leader Sebastian Vettel will start tomorrow's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from the back of the grid due to a fuel irregularity, the governing FIA said in a statement.
Vettel had qualified in third place with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, his closest title rival, in seventh.
However he was ordered by the team to stop his car during the in-lap after qualifying, and stewards found he did not have sufficient fuel in the car as required by regulations.
Today's decision is a major opportunity for Alonso, 13 points behind Vettel, to narrow the gap.
