MELITA-0, MOSTA-5

Mosta returned to winning ways with a bang this evening as they thrashed Melita 5-0 at the Tedesco Stadium.

The Blues were too strong for the struggling Amateurs who crumbled in the second half, conceding four goals.

Mosta shaded the early exchanges. Matthew Sapiano, the Melita goalkeeper, stopped a low shot by Daniel Bogdanovic before Danail Mitev shot over the bar.

Mosta forged ahead on 18 minutes. Mitev jinked his way into the box before passing to Obinna Obiefule who sent a low shot past Sapiano.

One goal down, Melita tried to stage a reaction with Ramon Manuel Sierra Camacho heading over from Jovan Vukanic's free-kick.

Mitev's header was saved by Sapiano while Ousseni Zongo fired wide from the edge of the box.

Melita improved at the start of the second half but it was Mosta who increased their lead on 57 minutes. Bogdanovic's swerving shot hit the crossbar but Obiefule was on hand to drive the loose ball home after Ivan Tufegdzic failed to clear.

Sapiano, the Melita goalkeeper, then denied Obiefule a third goal when pushing out the Nigerian's effort.

Melita threatened through Sierra Camacho whose shot was cleared away by Onyii Steve Chiemeka.

Sierra Camacho then fired over from inside the box but Mosta wrapped up their win 16 minutes from time when Daniel Bogdanovic headed Zongo's cross past Sapiano at the far post.

Three minutes later, Mosta struck their fourth when Zongo converted a penalty, given for a foul on Campagnoli.

In stoppage time, Mosta won a second penalty after Karl Vella Petroni was ruled to have tripped Jonathan Bajada in the box. Bogdanovic made no mistake from the spot.

Mosta striker Obiefule was the BOV player of the match.
