Motorists and residents of Msida experienced flooding of a different kind today, a  tide which caused seawater to flow around the Workers' Monument.

The phenomenon was also witnessed in St George's Bay, Birzebbuga and in Marsascala.

A shop-owner in Msida said that seawater flooding is not frequent, but it is not unheard of. This was the first case this year but there were several instances in the past few years as the sea flowed up from channels meant to drain rainwater into the sea.

The high sea level was also observed in Pieta Creek (See picture below)
