MFA suspends three players in match-fixing claims

Three players have been  provisionally suspended by the MFA Executive Committee over allegations of match-fixing, according to sources.

The players are Gaetan Spiteri, Jermain Brincat and Chris Brincat.

Spiteri was banned in connection with the MFA’s investigation into claims of bribery attempts before last season’s Premier League second- round match between Ħamrun Spartans and Sliema Wanderers. The game, played in February, ended 1- 1.

The suspension of Jermain Brincat, who is on the books of Floriana, and his brother Chris, a Floriana futsal player who is also a member of the national squad, is believed to be linked to the MFA’s probe into match- fixing allegations surrounding the Division One game between Gżira United and Naxxar Lions which was played on September 28.

The members of the Malta FA Executive Committee imposed the provisional bans during their monthly meeting yesterday after receiving separate reports from Adrian Camilleri, the association’s prosecuting officer, about the two match- fixing cases.

Everywhere matches are fixed. In Malta and all over the world. At least here the association and police are bringing them to justice. Today's society is a reflection of all this.

I wonder what Mr.Johnson & Mr. Cassar would have said if yesterday's match Arsenal-Reading, ending 7-5 after Arsenal were 4-0 down, had been a local football match?

Juventus have been stripped of more than one trophy in the past for corruption. Their present coach is suspended for involvment in match fixing. The Italian game is riddled with fixed results, past and present. This does not stop some people watching. The proof is there, find something else to do with your time.

Trever Lee:

Juventus were sent in serie B, but till now we haven't seen any proof that corruption existed. You're inventing things. On the other hand Antonio Conte case was a true injustice as he wasn't even investigated from the court but was punished by the fake sports court, with 23 witnesses in his favour.
