Council holding Lands Department responsible for fallen wall

The Kalkara mayor is holding the Public Lands Department director responsible for any accident that may happen as a result of a fallen wall near the former Bruno Stores.

In a statement, mayor Michael Cohen deplored the Public Lands Department's 'irresponsibility' when it failed to take action about the wall from when it was still standing.

Mr Cohen said that correspondence was exchanged between him and the people responsible within the department but the wall was left to fall and it was now blocking the pavement creating a danger for the public.

The council, the mayor said, had informed the police about the situation and it was insisting that the danger be removed immediately and the necessary works  carried out.
