PN deputy leader election: 'No decision yet' - Fenech and de Marco
Tonio Fenech and Mario de Marco this morning said they have not yet decided whether to contest the Nationalist Party's deputy leadership post.
Asked about their intentions this morning during a joint press conference on public procurement, both said they had not yet decided.
Mr Fenech said he had taken no decision yet while Dr de Marco added he will make his intentions known in the coming days.
At one point, Dr de Marco jokingly turned to Mr Fenech and told him "I will be your campaign manager".
Asked whether there was any agreement for MEP Simon Busuttil to be the sole candidate, Mr Fenech responded that he was not aware of any such arrangement.

Tonio Fenech = No thank you, those who votde against the peoples will do not deserve to be
in parliament and those who drove our country in financial crisis and are leaving a mountain
of debt behind them should stay out of politics.
Mario Demarco = No thankyou, parliamentary seats do not belong to families. Malta is a republic
not a monarchy.

The unease and nervousness from the labour camp about the thought of having Simon Busuttil as the only candidate can only confirm that this is the right choice for PN...and it is really quite easy to see why...after all Simon has a record of 68,000 votes to his name !!!

But isn't it obvious that there will be only ONE contender. This is the latest trait at tal-Pieta!
Just look at the last election when GonziPN contested by himself!

Il problema m'ihiex il proposti li ressaq...Kulhadd jaf li il proposti kienu u ghadhom validi.
Il problem hija il mod ta kif ipproponihom...
Fl'ebda organizzazzjoni ma tista tipproponi xi haga, u jekk ma tigix accettata (ghall kulinkwa raguni) tirrikatta l-organizzazzjoini...Dan huqa stil ta ditattorjat...Demokrazija = tipproponi u f'maggoranza taqbel jew ma taqbilx....

Mr Brincat,
Rather than saying mine (or yours is better), it would have been more constructive if you attempted an answer to my question. I am not interested in partisan politics but in what is good for our country and the community as a whole. Are you? (I believe you are) So, answer my question. How can a party be progressive and yet still choose old failed ministers?

By not having a good health sector after 25 years in Govt ? Or by being in the lowest of the lowest with 6 BILLION EURO in debt ??

Jeffery nails in on the head with his comment.... Best for Malta does not always mean PN... the only people who want the same party in power, year in year out, are the ones who benefit from it directly.
What will benefit Malta is a change in government at this point in time, be it red, green or the rainbow... but not blue we had that and its well past its expiry date!

The Nationalist Party is changing itself from within. It is reinventing itself slowly. Simon Busuttil, Mario Demarco and others like these people are forward looking and have the potential of bringing new and fresh ideas into the party. Unlike Labour - sticking to what is already known and the old Mintoffian guard recorded in history for their fiascos. Why is this? Isn't LP supposedly progressive?
