• The annual Congress of the Tertiary Carmelites will be taking place today at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta. All Tertiary Carmelites are requested to be at the church at 5.15pm.

The congress will feature Holy Rosary based on the Mysteries of the Light as well as a feature by Can John Ciarlo. The congress will end with Mass, which will be celebrated at 6.30pm.

• There will be an open day at the Riħama Battery, St Thomas Bay, Marsascala, today from 9am to 4pm. The day will start off with a presentation, followed by a tour and heritage walk from 10am repeating at 2pm. Admission is free. For the full programme, visit www.culturalheritage.gov.mt.

• A bazaar in aid of the Dominican Missions is being held today from 8am to 8pm at the St Dominic Priory, Rabat. There will be books, plants, Christmas decorations, toys and clothes for sale.

• The Mission Fund is organising a buffet breakfast on Thursday in aid of Maltese missionaries working in Third World countries, at San Antonio Hotel, Qawra. Price is €10. • A day-long adoration to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life will be held at the Seminary, Tal-Virtù, Rabat, on Thursday. It starts with Mass at 9.30am, followed by adoration for the rest of the day. The seminarians will join at 6.30pm and the day of prayer concludes with another Mass at 7.15pm. All are welcome to attend.

• Charity NGO Land Group is holding a fundraising car wash next Sunday from 10am to 4pm near Mamma Mia Restaurant in Ta’ Xbiex.

• A bazaar is being held at St Helen parish centre, Birkirkara (behind St Helen church) from November 6 to 14. Opening hours are daily between 9am and noon and 4.30 to 7.30pm. On Sundays it will be open only in the morning. Among items for sale will be antiques, collectibles, furniture, home-grown pot plants and bric-a-brac.

• Blanche Martin invites all her friends and the friends of the Little Sisters of the Poor on November 7 to a special fundraising day at the Preluna Hotel, Sliema, from 10am. For bookings and more information, call 2133 0387.

• The Cana Movement is organising a series of talks on contemporary Church teachings and approach to marriage and the family to encourage public debate and promote healthy marriages. They will also serve to train leader-couples of its marriage preparation courses. The next talks will be as follows: November 6 by Christine Galea, January 15 by Robert Tufigno, February 12 by Fr Joe Galea Curmi and April 30 by Mgr Anton Gouder. All talks will be held in St Paul Hall, Catholic Institute, Floriana, at 7pm.
