Car catches fire - twice
A BMW parked in Triq Margaret A. Murray, Naxxar caught fire twice last night, first at 7.30pm, then at 12.30am, the police said.
They said in a statement that the first fire was put out by a passer-by and the second fire, in which the car was extensively damaged, by the members of the Civil Protection Department.
An inquiry is being held.

Unless it decided to commit suicide , i tmay have been a short circuit which was not resolved after it caght fire the first time.

A short-circuit does not take 5 hours to re-ignite.... Somehow I get the feeling SOMEBODY (and quite determined) wanted this car ablaze! (Twice!)

So can the police say if this was coincidence or arson?

Do you actually believe it's a co-incidence?

it could be that the car wasnt properly extinguished the first time and later no reignited . i was witness to a similar event not so long ago , so from my p.o.v if it happend once it could again .

Perhaps the passerby did not do a good job of putting out the first fire and it was still smouldering. How can anyone be sure what happened?

...by having a brain and using it Carmen. You should try it....

Haha nice one Robert! Dear Carmen, I must agree on this - a smouldering fire may take time to develop a flame but it will only take seconds to re-ignite if it not extinguished properly - NOT 5 HOURS! - Coincidence? I really doubt it - Never heared of such unlucky persons... Twice! But, having said so, I've heard of unlucky in terms "someone set your car on fire mate"!
