A 23-year-old man from Mtarfa was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to theft.

Josef Agius was charged with stealing cash and jewellery with a value of more than €2,300, holding stolen goods, damaging third party property, committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended sentence and relapsing.

In a separate hearing, a 41-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay was granted bail against a number of conditions after she pleaded not guilty to theft.

Jacklene Agius was charged with stealing money and other items with a total vale of more than €2,300.
