Climbing sites in Malta and Gozo were extensively promoted by the Malta Tourism Authority during a recent rock climbing festival that took place in Sicily.

Officials from the MTA joined the Malta Climbing Club at the fourth edition of the San Vito Lo Capo Rock Climbing Festival, which took place between October 10 and 14.

During the festival, the MTA launched a promotional feature on rock climbing in Malta. The video will also be used extensively over the coming weeks and months to promote Malta as an excellent rock climbing destination.

Since 2005, the MTA has embarked upon a number of joint initiatives, together with the relevant climbing associations, to improve and popularise rock climbing. One such initiative has been the bolting project, in association with the Malta Rock Climbing Club, which so far has created over 400 new climbs in 25 sites around the islands.
