EPP asks for 'real reason' for resignation of OLAF Supervisory Committee chairman
The EPP group coordinator in the Budgetary Control Committee of the European Parliament has demanded full transparency on the reason for the resignation of the chairman of the OLAF Supervisory Committee, Christiaan Timmermans, in the wake of the resignation of European Commissioner John Dalli.
MEP Inge Gräßle said:
"The OLAF Supervisory Committee has to disclose the real reason for the resignation of its chairman in the immediate aftermath of the resignation of Commissioner Dalli.”
She said that the members of the OLAF Supervisory Committee also had to demonstrate that Mr Dalli's dossier was handled in full respect of the procedural and legal requirements of OLAF and the OLAF Supervisory Committee, and in full compliance with the rights accorded to persons under investigation by OLAF, also in the light of the court ruling in the Franchet/Byk case.
According to a statement this evening Christiaan Timmermans resigned the chairmanship of the OLAF Supervisory Committee “for personal reasons”. He continues to be a member of the committee.

Is the Maltese lady,a member of OLAF, who was appointed by the government t, estify on oath that she never contacted directly or indirectly the Prim Minister on this Dalli affair when the investigation was being carried out? Could the Maltese people be informed on how she was appointed and her functions? Had the PrimeMinister ever gave her some directions not necessarily on this matter?

Here's an interesting news item for those who were lambasting the PES (socialists) for expressing doubts about the matter. Barroso is eager for the whole thing to be forgotten as quickly as possible, but let's not forget that the commission is an unelected body and often acts as if it is answerable to nobody. The EP must not let this matter fizzle away until all questions are answered.

It's sounds more like a a fine plot to the rid of John Dalli the more time passes, in the end the name of John Dalli will be cleared and someone has to be responsible for this hasty and vendicative decision. Malta was stagnant in the whole affair.
On the contrary we are now going all "gay" to make sure that Tonio Borg takes his place.

The Franchet/Byk case as well as remarks by Maltese nationals who had "doses" of OLAF before John Dalli cast no good light on OLAF's attitudes and procedures. Yesterday Timmerman had after passing on the Dalli Report before the supervisory board had reviewed it. Today it is 'personal reasons'. With Dalli looking immune to 'golden handshakes', things do not look too good for Kessler et al.

This is how serious and professional organisations work, and this was the reason we voted for our beautiful Island Country to join the EU.
Investigative journalism at work. Local journalists take note, and appreciate how one's loyalty is to the public being told the truth, rather than what the journalist's ulterior aims may be.
The subject is a hot potato, but the main aim is: The Truth

Hmmm… so now it seems that the three major EP groups, EPP, Socialists and Greens are all expressing their doubts about Dalli’s forced resignation, and now, that of Timmermans as chairman of the OLAF Supervisory Board.
What is EP president Martin Shultz waiting for?

Mr Dalli in a recent interview said that Mr Barroso never supported his directive on tobacco - should Mr Barroso be investigated also???

It all seems that Mr Dalli was doing such a good job for all us Europeans, obviously without any fear, that unusual things have happened and many more will follow
