Labour leader Joseph Muscat this evening had a meeting with the heads of Church schools at Labour headquarters.
At the opening of the meeting, he said that Church schools had an essential role within the education system and the aim of the meeting was to discuss how the schools could be supported to carry out their aims.
Dr Muscat, who attended a Church school, said Labour was committed to helping Church schools overcome their challenges.
The president of the Church Schools Association spoke on the difficulties which the schools are facing, including dealing with mixed-ability teaching, the use of technology and the changing social life of children.
