Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni will not be rushing Wesley Sneijder back into his squad until the Dutch forward is fully fit, he said yesterday.

Sneijder has been sidelined with injury since the start of the season and a few weeks ago was reported to have told his agent of his interest in a move to Manchester United.

Inter, who finished 26 points off the pace of champions Juventus last season, are only four points behind the champions after eight games and are in Europa League action today.

In a press conference ahead of the San Siro clash with Partizan Belgrade, Stramaccioni hinted that Sneijder was close to a return but would not be rushed.

“I like what I’ve seen from him, he’s highly motivated,” Stramaccioni said.

“He wants to return as quickly as possible, he’s getting restless but, as you know, players will only return if they’re 100 per cent. I don’t like to rush anyone back.”
