Naxxar and San Pawl tat-Targa residents have presented a petition to their council protesting against the holding “of a circus and zoo” in the middle of a residential area in the locality.

The residents complained that the activity was expected to continue for two months or more running well into the festive season.

Over the past six days, over 260 signatures were collected.

The residents argued that such an event should never be held in a highly residential locality, as was the proposed site in Naxxar. They reiterated that, over such a long period, it would be a health hazard and a huge inconvenience. They asked for it to be immediately relocated to a non-residential area.

After residents protested last week, the location of the planned circus was changed to the parking area  in front of the former Trade Fair Grounds. It was originally to be situated in a field bordering St Paul Street, a main road, close to the old Trade Fair grounds.
