Johann Gauci, 21 of Dingli, was today charged with fracturing a policeman's arm on Saturday.

The court heard that the accused was involved in an argument with his parents. The policeman, who is a neighbour, heard the commotion and went over to see what was happening.

There was a brief scuffle during which the mother of the accused ended up on the floor. Johan Gauci then allegedly grabbed a metal pipe and hit the policeman with it, fracturing his arm.

The accused was granted bail against a personal deposit of €800 and a deposit of €2,000.

Magistrate Anthony Vella turned down pleas for a lower bail deposit amount.
