Dalli urges MEPs to push tobacco directive

John Dalli has written to all members of the European Parliament urging them to push the European Commission to go ahead with the Tobacco Directive which he had been working on.

Mr Dalli also insisted that he is innocent of all claims made against him, which led to his resignation on Tuesday.

It is not up to Joseph Muscat, or Lawrence Gonzi to sort this out, but it's up to the European commission. As Dr. DeMarco once said, Malta's membership in the EU is not a switch and you cannot just back out whenever you want. With all the money invested in the country, as well as the number of organisations which have invested in the country, it would spell disaster. We would be worse than Greece.
