Blackdigits, the financial website, was officially launched at the Malta Stock Exchange in Valletta on Thursday.
Already boasting a substantial following, the site has introduced a social aspect by allowing users to discuss a particular listed company or its financial statements.
“Our mission is to set up a forum for market followers and investors, which is lacking in Malta,” co-founder Chris Grech explained. “Every day we use online forums and community-based websites and we believe Blackdigits will add value to the Maltese investor community.”
Finance Minister Tonio Fenech and Stock Exchange chief executive Eileen Muscat were present.
Blackdigits.com.mt also launched the first Android app for the Maltese listed market. The app provides live share and corporate bond prices and a list of company announcements. It is downloadable from Google Play.
“The market suffers from an information gap and we are committed to continuously enhance the website to narrow the gap,” co-founder Calvin Bartolo added.
Access to all information in the website and the app is free. Blackdigits.com.mt is partly financed through the ERDF under Operational Programme 1. Blackdigits is operated by XG Ventures of Naxxar.
