Stompers RFC have just formed a women’s team. The Sliema-based club’s group of ladies began training last month under the tutelage of Englishman Adrian Silvester before he accepted a coaching appointment in Brazil.

Malcolm Attard, the captain of Stompers men’s side, is set to take over the reins of the ladies team in their first season.

Marion Pullicino, the team’s fly-half, said Stompers were looking for players who are interested in joining their squad.

“We already have a great group of girls who are committed and training hard ahead of their debut season,” Pullicino said.

“We also have some experienced girls who are laying the foundations of a very exciting team.”

Formed in 1996, Stompers became officially affiliated with Sliema a few years back, thus changing the name to Sliema Stompers RFC.

Over the years, the club has achieved significant success, both in terms of their players gaining international recognition, and honours won on the field of play, to which they are hoping more can be added to by the ladies’ team.

Interested players can contact Pullicino on 7905-2930 or email info@stompersrugby.com.
