A man who was involved in a traffic accident which caused a motorcyclist to suffer from a permanent disability of three per cent has been ordered by a court to pay the motorcyclist €9,950.

Ludvic Camilleri had been driving a Peugeot 306 which crashed into the Yamaha motorbike, that was being driven by Joseph Muscat.

The court heard that Mr Camilleri came out of a side-street, ignored a stop sign and crashed into the biker.

As a result of the accident, Mr Muscat injured his shoulder and could not work for some time. He still cannot do certain work.

In the accident he also lost his bike which split in half.

Agreed. It is a shame that all drivers do not go through stages of learning of several years at each stage of: bicycle, motorbike/scooter and only then progress to a car. Perhaps then and only then would more car, van, lorry and bus drivers appreciate the dangers and indeed how fragile the human body on a two wheel vehicle is.

Most motorcyclists are rubbish drivers with no sense of patience.. they just want to swerve round traffic as if they own a divine right not to have to wait a little bit in traffic until they have proper room to manoeuvre!! You have put it into your mind that it is perfectly fine to drive on the white line separating the lanes for all the journey and to suddenly overtake someone from the inner lane!!

May one ask what your point is mr Woods? Do you even have a point? What has the payment of compensation, which is justified in this case, got to do with insurance fraud and riding a motorcycle? You know what another "fact"is? That a lot of car drivers are totally blind to cyclists and motorcyclists. You obviosly have something against motorcyclists...that is your problem not mine.

Mr Woods sorry but what part of a car pulling out on a STOP sign and hitting a motorcylce points towards Fraud to you? as with regards to your FACT point, so if your walking on the pavement and get hit by a driver, it's your fault cos it's a dangerous activity? be real please if only all drivers got a bike for once they'de realise how wrong and dangerous they are!
