On average, journey times in Istanbul are 57 per cent longer than when traffic in the city is flowing freely and 84 per cent longer during morning rush hour.
Tom Tom’s Congestion measures traffic congestion in European cities between April and June.
The next most congested cities are Warsaw (45 per cent); Marseille (42 per cent); Palermo (40 per cent); Rome and Paris (34 per cent); Stuttgart (33 per cent); Brussels (33 per cent); Hamburg (32 per cent) and Stockholm (30 per cent).
