My best ever trip…

I managed to cage dive with great white sharks in South Africa, which was an experience I’ll never forget

I can’t really choose; there are so many beautiful places. I will always love Barcelona, but last February I convinced my husband to go to Madrid and it was also amazing. I seem to have a soft spot for anything related to Spain.

I felt most relaxed in…

London. Whenever I get some free time, I go to London for short breaks – I call it my London fix. I book tickets for a musical for every night I’m there. I simply adore musicals, and nowhere can beat London for them.

I make sure that I dress according to what musical I am watching. My favourite was Hair.

And if you’re in London, Camden Town is a must. I don’t like the weather much, but there is so much that makes up for it.

I lost my cool in…

Ukraine. I went with our cameraman Charles Ahar to film during the Euro 2012 game between England and France in Donetsk.

Our so-called ‘hotel’ was a disaster. Unsurprisingly, we were the only ones staying there.

Instead of a shower, there was a bucket; instead of a quilt there was a carpet; and the curtains were stained with blood!

Thank God the people in Donetsk are really nice.

Within an hour, I had made friends with a girl who was helping us film and I ended up staying with her family.

The coolest part was that when I arrived in her apartment there was a poster of Chiara! They were huge fans of her. After that, everything went just perfect and we managed to work hard and still enjoy being in Donetsk.

I felt so welcome in…

South Africa. We went there twice to film some features with the winner of Coke Zero My Impossible Dream. The people were so welcoming, helpful and always had smiles on their faces.

I managed to cage dive with sharks which was an experience I’ll never forget. There is everything you could want in South Africa: nature, animals, nightlife, great restaurants and amazing people.

I couldn’t wait to leave…

Nowhere springs to mind.

I partied hardest in…

Barcelona. I travelled to Barcelona quite a lot in my younger days when I still had the energy to stay out all night and day – Spanish people never seem to rest. I loved the concerts, the clubs and even after-hour parties. During the day I still had the energy to be a tourist and explore this beautiful city.

I cringe when I think of…

My trip to London to film features for L-Istrina. We had to visit a lot of hospitals and interview Maltese patients staying there.

One can never imagine the suffering these people go through; this has made me change the way I live, as it could be me in their position.

I laughed so hard in…

Livigno. Skiing is not that hard but until you get the hang of it, it’s extremely funny.

The first day I spent one hour on the floor for every 10 minutes of skiing. Then there is the sledging, which is absolutely hilarious. It’s a really fun place for all ages. If you’re part of a group, it’s even better.

Instead of a shower there was a bucket; instead of a quilt there was a carpet; and the curtains were stained with blood!

My longest holiday was…

America. I visited with my husband, Duane and my son Mick, who was five at the time. We went to Orlando for a month.

I felt like I was still a child. The Disney and Universal parks are unforgettable. I managed to watch a few musicals there too.

I wish I could live in…

Barcelona. I have to convince Duane first, which will be difficult as he is in love with London.

I treasure the memory of…

All my travels. There is always something to remember, but if I had to pick one stand-out memory, it would be attending my idol Michael Jackson’s concert in Tunisia… pure perfection!

There was also Helsinki, which I visited to film for the Eurovision. Being a huge Eurovision fan, it was an unforgettable experience. Rome is also unforgettable as it was my first ever holiday when I was nine.

The most delicious food I’ve tasted was…

I’m a vegetarian, so I always look for vegetarian restaurants. London and South Africa cater extremely wellfor us.

I have also been on a cruise every year for the past five years. You get to visit various places, but in terms of food there is something to eat all the time. Maybe a bit too much!

The hardest part of travelling is…

The packing. I hate packing and I hate unpacking. I always leave it to the very last minute so I always tend to forget something.

Travel has taught me to…

Be freer. I love the different ways of thinking, the different cultures, the ways other people live.

I believe everyone should travel at least once in their lives, especially young people. Travel helps people be more creative and liberal.

Funnily enough, travel has also taught me to appreciate how lucky we are to live in Malta, which is such a beautiful little island.

I dream of one day visiting…

The world! India, Peru, Argentina, Thailand… the list is never-ending.
