Theatre students to stage Beauty and The Beast

A group of young acting students will be taking to the stage in a production of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast (in junior version), being put up by FM Theatre Productions in collaboration with Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools and Gewiss.

Raphael Pace will play the title role of The Beast and Sarah Mercieca that of Belle. The palace characters are being played by Brendon Thearle (Cogsworth), Matthew Grech (Lumière), Mattea Gouder (Mrs Potts), Antonella Mifsud (Mme De La Grand Bouche – The Wardrobe), Sandie von Brockdorff (Babette) and Adam Ali Farag (Chip).

The villain, Gaston, is played by Niki Andrejevic, while Matthew Ben Attard will play his bumbling foolish sidekick, Le Fou.

Pete Farrugia takes on the role of the crazy old inventor, Belle’s father, while James Vella is the evil Monsieur D’Arque. A chorus of palace servants and another chorus of villagers will support the main cast.

The cast will sing some of the musical fantasy’s well-loved songs including Beauty and The Beast, Be Our Guest, The Mob Song, Gaston and Belle.

An enchanted set designed by Stephanie Spiteri and incredible costumes by Noel Zarb will complete this family-friendly show.

Beauty and The Beast is directed by Edward Mercieca assisted by Cathy Lawlor as musical director and Emma Loftus as choreographer. The production will take place at St Aloysius’ College Theatre, Birkirkara, on October 27 at 7pm and October 28 at 3pm.
