A one-day workshop on Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) by renowned couple therapist Sue Johnson is being organised by the Department for Family Studies of the University’s Faculty for Social Well-Being.

EFT offers a unique perspective on how to use the power of emotion and the new science of adult attachment to create significant, lasting change in couple relationships.

The therapy results in excellent outcomes with many different kinds of couples, including those facing trauma and depression.

This workshop will combine cutting-edge theory, research and clinical data into a 21st-century vision of couple therapy by means of didactic presentations, discussion of clinical issues, viewing of video clips from training DVDs and experiential exercises offered for play and practice.

The workshop is particularly aimed at professionals in the areas of family therapy, psychotherapy, psychiatry, counselling, psychology and social work. Students in these areas at Masters level are also welcome.

The workshop will be held at the Aula Magna of the University’s Valletta campus on November 13 from 9am to 5pm.

The cost for the workshop is €120 per participant. Special rates are available for students.

After the workshop a one-hour public lecture will be held on November 13 at 6.30pm. The fee is €20 per participant. Those attending are asked to be seated by 6.15pm.

To book for the workshop or the public lecture, e-mail kerry.chetcuti@um.edu.mt or call 2340 2330.
