Man charged with stealing necklaces from elderly women
A 49-year-old man from Birzebbuga was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to using violence to steal three necklaces from elderly women.
One necklace was stolen from 80-year-old woman in Sliema, another from an 82-year-old woman in Gzira and the third from a 78-year-old woman in Tarxien. All necklaces are valued at more than €232 each.
Joseph Xuereb was also charged with injuring one of the women, committing his crimes during the operative period of a suspended sentence and being a relapser.
