It is so sad that Maltese Catholics are being led through a phase of bewilderment as they receive conflicting messages about the propriety of voting for divorce laws and receiving the sacrament of Holy Eucharist while living in a state of open adultery as defined by Christ Himself.
This perplexity is aggravated by rumours that the clergy are being updated on these matters by teachers from abroad who are openly defying the magisterium.
Catholics must derive comfort from the gospel account (Matthew 9:36) that, even in His days on earth, Christ expressed compassion for His followers because they were confused, helpless and harassed like sheep without a shepherd.
