I was in Malta from September 25 to October 2, which is quail hunting season. I was with my friend in the Siġġiewi area and was very surprised by the lack of gunshots heard.

I spent two days with him when he was hunting and saw buzzards and kestrels and watched these birds soar freely across the island without being shot at, which is a good thing. It shows that the majority must be adhereing to the strict hunting regulations that have been imposed by Brussels.

While the majority of hunters do adhere to the regulations, there are some others that like nothing better than to take pot shots at anything that moves (on the ground or in the air). I refer to the flamingoes that were slaughtered, yes slaughtered, for the fun of it.

Such people must be weeded out for the good of the genuine law-abiding hunters of Malta or Brussels will make it totally illegal to shoot a gun at all in Malta.

Mark my words and watch this space, big brother is watching you.
