PENNANT: Jermaine Pennant has joined Wolves from Stoke City on a three-month emergency loan. The winger, 29, has found first-team opportunities at the Potters limited of late but has played 77 times in the top flight for Stoke since he joined from Real Zara-goza, initially on loan, in August 2010.

HOOPS CLEARED: Celtic have been found not guilty by the SFA on charges relating to an alleged offensive banner displayed by fans during a pre-season friendly against Norwich at Parkhead. The SFA issued a notice of complaint over the banner relating to Rangers, which appeared in the Celtic support. The banner is understood to have featured a gunman shooting a zombie-like figure next to a gravestone with a Rangers crest on it.

CULINA: Two-time Australian World Cup midfielder Jason Culina has signed with Sydney FC for the remainder of the A-League season. Culina, 32, will link up with Alessandro Del Piero with the Sky Blues after undergoing lengthy rehabilitation from a knee injury that threatened to end his playing career.

SLOMKA: Mirko Slomka could soon extend his contract as coach of Hanover, according to the club’s director of sport, Jorg Schmadtke. Slomka’s current deal expires next summer but, after leading the club to their two most successful seasons, Hanover are keen on tying him down to a longer deal. “Our aspirations are the same,” said Schmadtke. “That is a foundation to be able to lead successful negotiations and that is what we are doing.”

VUCKIC: Newcastle midfielder Haris Vuckic will be sidelined for the rest of the season after rup-turing a cruciate ligament. The Slo-venia international was carried off on a stretcher after a challenge by Samir Carruthers during the Magpies U-21s’ 2-1 victory at Aston Villa on Monday evening.
