Over 5,000 piggy banks will be distributed to schools across Malta and Gozo and main shopping outlets at the launch of L-Istrina’s ninth BOV piggy bank campaign.

President and Mrs Abela this evening visited Bank of Valletta’s head office in Sta Venera where the preparations of the piggy banks for distribution were in the final stages.

The Malta Girl Guides and other volunteers prepared all the Piggy Banks that are to be distributed by the Armed Forces of Malta and volunteers.

The main aim of this campaign is to promote the value of donating without expecting anything in return. 

Chief executive officer Charles Borg thanked the President for giving the bank the opportunity to support this year’s event.

President George Abela thankedo all those who had donated money over the years.

The piggy bank campaign, he said, taught children the value of helping the less fortunate.

All funds collected through the Piggy Bank campaign together with a donation by Bank of Valletta will be presented during the live broadcast of L-Istrina mill-Qalb on December 26.
