Hold-up at Bugibba jewellery

A quantity of gold items was stolen early this afternoon in a hold-up on Super Gold jewellery in Triq il-Pijunieri, Bugibba.
Informed sources said a man wearing sunglasses and a hat and brandishing 'a sword' entered the shop at around 1.15 p.m. and demanded gold items, which he then proceeded to take from the shelves and place in a haversack.
Passers-by heard the salesgirl screaming and reported the incident to the police. The owner and a worker at a shop opposite ran after the thief who still managed to escape.
The police have launched a search.
