The parking problem in all localities in these islands is made worse by those who own a garage but selfishly persist in parking their car, not in front of their own garage door, at least, but in a parking bay, thus robbing someone else badly in need of some space.
What irritates also is the laissez-faire attitude of certain shop owners/establishments who use valuable parking spaces to exhibit their wares. These range from household and garden furniture to motorcycles and second-hand cars, not to mention trucks and heavy vehicles left for days on end outside mechanics’ garages, causing great inconvenience to neighbours. These vehicles sometimes also obstruct roads and other drivers have to go wrong way.
It seems that the wardens who do the rounds have eyes only for those who happen to park their car a few centimetres beyond the parking bay and literally ignore other abuses.
Some action needs to be taken.
