Tarxien Rainbows scored a goal in each half to shock Premier League title outsiders Mosta 2-0 at the National Stadium today.

It was an impressive display from Clive Mizzi's team who put up an efficient display that all but annulled the threat posed by the Mosta forwards to grab three priceless points that lifted them away from the lower placings in the standings.

Tarxien could not have hoped for a better start as after eight minutes they were awarded a penalty when Brazilian striker Danilo was upended in the area by Ferdinando Apap with referee Paul Caruana immediately pointing to the spot.

Daniel Mariano Bueno stepped up for the kick and sent Mosta goalkeeper Justin Haber the wrong way to put his team ahead.Mosta's response was feeble with Tarxien goalkeeper Nicky Vella almost never called into action for the rest of the first half.

After the break, Mosta tried to regroup but their hopes of a comeback where dashed on the hour when from an Andrezinho freekick Danilo beat his marker to sent a glancing header past Haber.

Tarxien midfielder Andrezinho was named as the BOV Player of the Match.
