• The Santa Venera External Feasts Committee is holding a car wash day in aid of the Santa Venera feast today from 7am to 1pm at the old church square.

• Caritas Cooperators will be organising a day at The Palace Hotel, Sliema, on Wednesday. The day starts with coffee at 10.30am, followed by a talk by Bernard Grech; Mass and lunch at 1pm. Cards may be played in the afternoon.

• A talk by Valentina Lupo on A Study of the Polychrome Wooden Statue of St John the Baptist at Dingli parish church will be delivered on Thursday at 6pm at Din l-Art Ħelwa, Valletta.

The talk is free but donations to Din l-Art Ħelwa will be appreciated. Call 2122 5952 for more information.

• A retreat for consecrated people entitled Healing Life’s Hurts will be held at Manresa retreat house, Victoria, from Friday to next Sunday. It will be directed by Fr Alex Refalo and Sr Magdalene Cauchi. The seminar is aimed at helping participants identify what is conditioning them and preventing them from being free enough to love God and others more. Attendance will be limited. • A video-forum addressing mental health issues such as depression and bipolar disorder, followed by a discussion by professionals in the field, will be held on Friday from 6pm at Project House, Beltissebħ, Floriana. Entrance is free but donations will be appreciated.

• The Lions Club is organising a family day and bazaar at Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, next Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm. Mass will be celebrated at 11am. There will be games for children, face, painting, karoake and tombola and food, costume jewellery, books, toys and plants for sale. Proceeds will go towards Dar tal-Providenza.

• The Missions Office of Merchants Street, Valletta, is organising two events to commemorate Missions Day on October 21.

The first event is a missionary walk being held next Sunday. Those taking part will meet at 9.30am near the Peace Lab in Ħal Far. The walk, which starts at 10am, will end in Żejtun. Mass will be celebrated at noon at St Gregory’s church. Those wishing to make use of their own transport can park in Żejtun before 9.30am and will be taken to Ħal Far by transport provided by the Missions Office. Participation is free. Donations will be appreciated.

The second event will be held on October 21, starting with Mass at 9am at the Domus Sagra Familja in Żejtun, followed by the inauguration of Mission Village at Marsaxlokk Square, where a number of missionary societies will display stands. Mission Fest will also be held with a number of activities for children, adults and all the family. There will be music, singing, discussions, food and items handmade in mission countries for sale.

Later this month

• A weekend retreat for married couples will be held at Manresa retreat house, Victoria, from October 26 to October 28. It will be directed by Fr Vince Magri, and Carmen and Karm Conti. This retreat is an occasion for married couples to renew and celebrate their marriage vows and discover more deeply God’s love for them and their families. Attendance is limited to eightcouples.
