Fabrizio Granelli and John Brown will deliver presentations on emerging technologies and concepts in ICT and engineering on October 19 from 6pm to 8pm at the Malta Council for Science and Technology, Villa Bighi, Kalkara. The activity is organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Malta Section to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the IEEE Region 8.
Prof. Granelli is an associate professor in telecommunications at the University of Trento’s Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science.
His presentation is on the design of green networking. He will provide an overview of the current status of the internet in terms of energy efficiency, focusing on the backbone, wireless access and data centre design methodologies required to enter the era of the green internet.
Meanwhile, Brown will talk about ubiquitous computing and calm technology. His presentation will focus on the advances in the evolution of human computer interaction via a human-centred endeavour, and the development of a new empirical tool to measure the calm in our technology.
He has been recognised by two of Canada’s networks of centres of excellence for his research in workplace biomechanics and applied mathematics.
