President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici is currently delivering a series of lectures on comparative law at the International Maritime Law Insititute at the University of Malta, spanning several weeks and focusing on a wide range of topics, including The Mainstream of Law in the West, The Specific Nature of the Anglosaxon Common Law System, Law in Islamic Countries and Laws and Change: The Drafting of new Laws.

The study of comparative law contributes to understanding the present-day legal systems of the world, and it is of paramount importance in the study of maritime law from an international perspective.
Dr Mifsud Bonnici is the author of numerous publications, including the text book An Introduction to Comparative Law. His latest book An Introduction to Cultural Heritage Law was published in 2008.
