Muscat meets EU Commission President, Tunisian President, Algerian PM
Opposition leader Joseph Muscat this morning had separate meetings with EU Commission President Jose' Manuel Barroso, Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki and Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
The talks with Mr Barroso focused on EU-Malta affairs while the meeting with the Tunisian President focussed on bilateral cooperation in areas such as education and tourism.
Regional cooperation was also the focus of the talks with the Algerian prime minister, as well as avenues of collaboration at state and private sector levels.
Those present for the meetings included Louis Grech, head of the Labour delegation to the European Parliament, Noel Farrugia, spokesman for overseas development aid, and Alex Sceberras Trigona, the PL's international secretary.

Mr Barroso keeps boasting of democracy in Europe. But who are the people in Europe voting for Mr Barosso?
He has now been having a free ride since October 2004, and it should be enough to mention that, quote: "In his college days, he was one of the leaders of the underground Maoist MRPP (Reorganising Movement of the Proletariat Party, later PCTP/MRPP, Communist Party of the Portuguese Workers/Revolutionary Movement of the Portuguese Proletariat).":unquote (Current Wikipedia page for José Manuel Barroso).
In my view, Mr Barosso should stop dictating to the Maltese government, and should leave Malta on the earliest flight his EU clerks can possibly book for the gentleman.

Barroso qed iwieghed aktar ko-operazzjoni meta JM ikun PM, ghax, bhala ex- MEP , JM jista' jifhem aktar kif tahdem l-EU. Gonzi jkollu joqghod fuq li jghidulu tal-klikka. U dawn s'issa hasbu biss fihom infushom u l-familjari ul hbieb taghhom u fil-partit. Ghal PL il-pajjiz u c-cittadini tieghu jigu qabel il-partit. Din hija d-differnza sostanzjali li kienet, ghada u tibqa'.

"The talks with Mr Barroso focused on EU-Malta affairs"
Oh to be a fly on the wall during this conversation.
When do the public get to read in depth reports on the conversations held, after all the Government are in place representing the people so the people should know in detail what was discussed.

It was reported in the media that Joseph Muscat and his delegation (including Alex Sceberras Trigona) shook hands with almost all the heads of state attending the 5+5; but no mention of shaking hands with the Libyan head of state!
Can someone tell me why?

Surely not! Also, he probably didn't mention the WISE advise he gave Iceland! And what about the One TV programmes he produced, 'Made in Brussels'? I HOPE he gave him a translated copy of the series. But then, what better can you expect from PL?
