A number of men armed with a firearm this evening approached a man in Triq E. Pirotta, limits of Madliena, threatened him and demanded money.

The police said the incident happened at around 7 p.m. and the thieves were not hooded. The victim gave the thieves his wallet, which contained less than €500, and the thieves escaped.

A car found on fire in Pembroke shortly afterwards is believed to be the escape vehicle.

No one was injured.

An inquiry is being held.
