Jurors in an attempted murder trial were yesterday taken to the place where an argument started before a man was shot, and to the crime scene itself.

The victim, Peter Borg, 56, was at Toni’s Bar in Birkirkara on July 22, 2009 when he is alleged to have sworn and used vulgar language against Nazzareno Briffa, 49.

Mr Briffa is charged with shooting him in an attempt to kill him on Mr Borg’s farm later.

On Wednesday, Mr Borg told the court he was drinking with friends at his house when they heard two loud noises.

He went to investigate and heard his childhood friend, Mr Briffa, calling his name. All of a sudden he was shot.

Mr Borg said he felt a lot of heat and medical X-rays showed that pellets had entered his brain and his heart.

He spent weeks in intensive care but managed to make a recovery, although will need to use eye medication for the rest of his life, he said.
