The opening day of the new handball season saw the La Salle teams claiming the Eurosport Super Cup in both men’s and women’s categories after having the better of sporting rivals Aloysians.
La Salle ZT Developments beat Aloysians Zmerc 14-10 in the women’s Super Cup.
La Salle seemed cruising to victory when opening a 9-2 lead at half-time. However, Aloysians re-grouped and gave their opponents a hard time till the end as the final scoreline clearly shows.
Brenda Camilleri (Aloysians) and La Salle duo Celaine Ellul and Kami Dobrancheva were the top-scorers with four goals each.
La Salle BHS also imposed their supremacy in the men’s Super Cup as they beat Aloysians Von Taine 18-13.
Aloysians opened an early advantage but La Salle got back in the reckoning with five successive goals.
The second half saw a dearth in goals but La Salle held on to their half-time lead to secure victory.
Chris Magro (La Salle) was the game’s top scorer with five goals as Alex de Pilato netted four times for Aloysians.
