The Labour Party has presented two motions in Parliament in a bid to force a debate on the privatisation of car parks and on a motion of no confidence in Transport Minister Austin Gatt.

In the motions it presented today, the PL calls for the House to be adjourned to debate its motion on government plans to privatise of 32 car parks and the motion of no confidence in Transport Minister Austin Gatt, presented by Nationalist MP Franco Debono.

The motions call for the debate to be held on the day after the motions are moved.

During a House Business Committee meeting earlier today, the government insisted there is no urgency for Parliament to debate the motion on the privatisation of car parks, as those plans were shelved.

Dr Debono presented his motion of no confidence in Dr Gatt early this afternoon.

It criticises the minister over his handling of the bus service reform, the car parks privatisation issue and the power station extension contract.
