Maltese 'pasticceria' in London

Parparellu has become the first Maltese 'pasticceria' to open in London.

The High Commissioner of Malta, Joe Zammit  Tabona, officially opened the café as guests were treated to a wide selection of mouth-watering savoury and sweet delicacies from the Parparellu menu, including 'pastizzi', 'qassatat', 'timpana' and 'kannoli'.

A large number of Maltese Londoners have since flocked to Parparellu on Fulham Palace Road to get a taste of home.

Owner Joseph Pace described the outlet as a place where tradition meets contemporary, taking to London the best of Maltese pastry.

For goodness sake, can't you find something positive to say?
This is a great advertisement for Malta and somewhere that expats can find a reminder of home.

I know of no pasticceria that is healthy. Maybe had it been a restaurant it could promote the soap Ta l-armload and mi extra but healthy sweets? If you know of any p,ease lemme know I would live nothing better than to be healthy while enjoying sweet things.

Of all the hundreds of pasticcerias and dolcerias and sweet shops and donut shops in London, you C C, had to leave a disparaging comment about Parparellu. Is it because it's owned by a Maltese or has to do with maltese snacks? You sound like a self-hating-maltese to me. Lighten up. Eat a kannoli, it might sweeten your attitude.

It was a great opportunity to promote the Mediterranean diet that was traditionally Maltese. However, I forgot the lack of imagination of the Maltese who only think of the next euro in their pocket rather than a long term view of their traditional culture. Still, why not promote the fact that the Maltese are the most obese and unhealthy in Europe through a shop selling fast food?

What are rabbiting on about, Pastizzi healthy cheese and you have the peas one of you 5 a day . Kinnie the best soft dring in the world not made from chemicals like the colas are. Burger King MacDonalds plus many other fast food outlets and you have a go at one Maltese outlet. Obviously someone in Malta as upset you. I am English and welcome the place although I live over 200 miles from London.

You're missing the point. It's easy to buy healthy snacks in London, but until now it was impossible to get a "taste of home". Perhaps it will catch on in other cities in the UK.

@ C.Cassar: Many UK Maltese like me who left their homeland many years ago like to indulge in some traditional Maltese food from time to time and couldn't care less of what you think. I was in Sydney not long ago and one of the highlights on a sunday morning was driving down the Maltese Pastizzi shop in Oxford street for cheess cakes and tea.

George, can't you go a bit further and come to Malta and stuff your face until your heart's content? I am sure you will have a wider choice.
