Because of the typical insular character of half of the Maltese; they are completely oblivious to what goes on
in the world.. Now every adult who can drive owns a car and therefore everyone is affected by fuel prices . At the same time few people realise that because of the very short distances in Malta the fluctuations in prices translate into just a few cents a month up or down. Furthermore most people love to moan and groan, it seems to be ingrained in the character of most of the locals. Last, but not least, there is the political agenda; they want to make it look as though the prices are in any way influenced by the government of the day.

@Charles Massa.....Mela qatt ma rajt il-prezzijiet tal-fuel fl'Ewropa? Jaqaw tghix go xi bozza tas-Surper One? U qatt kien hawn xi parastatal body mimli bl-efficjenza? L-iktar meta xi bravu mlihom b'7 000 ruh lejliet l'elezzjoni tal-1987. X'qed tghid, li xi gvern ser ikeccihom 'l barra? Issa wiehed irid jistenna sakemm dawn jigu biex jirtiraw? Mhux ahjar ma tghid xejn milli tghid il-hmerijiet?

Part of what you say is true, fuel prices do change from abroad. But It is GonziPN who decides by how much prices increase or decrease locally. Dosen't it seem funny to you that most of the time an increase is of 0.05c or 0.06c however a decrease in price like the one of today is more or less always around 0.01c.
If you chosse to be fooled (for a few more days) we dont.....thank you very much!

I think it's about time we all grow up and stop blaming governments just because our political believes are different

Some of us dont actually put any blame on the government because of our different beliefs. Your assumption is quite incorrect in that respect. Secondly ... it is quite amazing how many don't realize that prices going up are done on the spot while stocks in petrol stations don't end on the day ... This effectivley means that the fuel we are buying the following days of a price increase is really old stock with old prices and not the new price. This means more profit for the stations. One might argue that the same applies when prices go down. My answer to that would be to comapre the number of times fuel goes up to the number of times and amounts prices do actually go down...

Added to all this, is the amount of tax per litre the government imposes .. I find these two arguments to realistically justify our frustration and anger at the government fuel price policy ..

@ C.Cassar. Excuse me but your arguement doesn't make sense. I bet you that with the fuel one uses to go fom Valletta to C'Kewwa in Malta, you will do at least a 70 mile journey on the motorway abroad, and obviously as well the parking space problem you mentioned, if car parks are privatised it will be worst. And what about your comment concerning the use of a bus. Do you want to tell me to use a bus for a short journey, say for 2, husband and wife, paying 3 euro plus the unlimited waiting on bus stops. And I can state facts. Bus 205 leaving Rabat full ( a 10 min drive to Mosta ), had to wait for the next one, one hour later. U ghax xi hadd laqghat il qampina bi zball ix xuffier tghidx kemm dagh u tkellem hazin (fuq rotta differenti ) u qal li jekk ikun jaf min itih daqqa go halqu u jifqahhulu. Hallina siehbi kun realistiku.

C.Cassar; Absolutely right, we have to cut the number of cars on the roads in Malta, the only way to deal with the problem is to double the tax on fuel and invest the proceeds in an efficient and reliable public transport system. There is going to come a time in Malta when the whole place will become gridlocked and won't be worth owning a car anyway.

Are you referring to the mess in our finances because if so I pity you. If I were you I would save the comment you have just posted and read again a few month after the election.
