The UK’s Red Arrows yesterday experienced technical difficulties on their way to take part in the Malta International Airshow and landed in Sardinia, putting their participation in doubt.

“The team’s engineers are currently doing their very best to have the aircraft serviceable again but it is not yet known if the Red Arrows will be able to perform in Malta,” said Joe Ciliberti, president of the Malta Aviation Society.

Most other aircraft were on the ground yesterday as preparations for this weekend’s show went into full swing.

The public will be able to see the Spitfire, RAF Typhoons and Tornados, a Nato AWACS and many other aircraft.
