I know of many pensioners, like myself, who feel they have been cheated for many years by having their pension capped. It is a clear injustice that members of Parliament, after only 10 years of serving in Parliament, get the preferential treatment of an uncapped pension while civil servants, after 40 years of service or more, have their pension capped.
Many pensioners have been suffering in silence, trying in vain to live the lifestyle they had been used to all their lives on an inadequate pension by today’s standards.
It is time for politcal parties to declare their intentions on this matter. Whichever party demonstrates the will to correct this long-lasting injustice will definitely have the support of thousands of pensioners and their dependants in the coming election.
