Malta’s first resident Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Charles Sultana, presented his diplomatic credentials on Tuesday.

The Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber, welcomed the opening of Malta’s Embassy in Kuwait City. He noted that throughout different times, Malta had always proven to be a friend of the State of Kuwait.

He referred to Kuwait’s need for political support in the wake of the Iraqi occupation and annexation of the Gulf state. The Emir referred especially to the role played by the late President Emeritus Guido de Marco at the time. The importance of people exchanges and high level visits was also discussed.

Mr Sultana noted it was well known that Kuwaitis enjoyed travelling and that Malta had a lot to offer, especially for Kuwaitis wishing to study English at one of the many language schools.

The Emir said that more than 150 students were studying at the University of Malta.
