Dockers to strike for one hour

Dockworkers will be staging a one-hour strike in solidarity with Portuguese port workers opposing a new law.

The Malta Dockers’ Union said the strike would affect workers at Freeport and Valletta Gateway Terminals and would take place on Tuesday between 8am and 9am.

It said the strike had been ordered by the European section of the International Dockworkers Council.

The stoppage is also coinciding with The European Ports Policy Review Conference, organised by the European Commission, being held in Brussels on Tuesday.
