Congratulations have flooded in for pop singer Robbie Williams after his wife, Ayda Field, gave birth to their daughter yesterday.

The 38-year-old Take That star wrote on his blog: “Praise be, it’s Theodora Rose Williams, affectionately known as Teddy... Born 3.33pm on 18.9.12, 7lb 4oz. Baby, Mummy and Daddy are all rockin... Thank you for your best wishes XXXX.”

Williams is the fourth member of Take That to become a father after Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.

Giant snails on menu

A group of 36 giant snails has been seized from a passenger’s luggage at an airport.

Border Force officers at Glasgow Airport found the living giant African land snails when a man arrived from Amsterdam earlier this month.

They discovered the snails, which are around 15cm-long on average, when checking the luggage of the Nigerian man who said they were to be used as food.

‘Appearance is power’

South Korea has become the male make-up capital of the world.

A survey said it accounted for more than a fifth of the world’s male skincare products, even though the country has just 19 million men.

South Korean men who use make-up say it gives them confidence in a society where a popular catchphrase is “appearance is power”.

Heartbroken van driver

A heartbroken van driver parked next to a busy roundabout and poured out his feelings on the side of his vehicle in big orange letters.

The silver VW vehicle was left parked prominently beside the George Reynolds Industrial Estate outside Shildon, County Durham, with the message “Linda I’m sorry”, which went on “I’m a fool and an idiot sometimes” adding “I love you with all my heart!”

The desperate message went on “Please come home and put this right”, before asking her to marry him.
