It is obvious that Martin Scicluna (September 6) has a problem with the Bishop of Gozo.
After trying to soften up his readers by patronisingly praising the local Church’s achievements in the social and educational domains, this self-declared “disinterested” writer sets off with another of his characteristic diatribes against Mgr Grech.
This time, he proposes the Final Solution: eradicate the Gozo diocese! He even (naively, I thought) requests the local Nuncio to do his bidding and scurry to Rome to inform the Vatican of his brainwave.
I wonder, but does this passionate antagonism towards Mgr Grech and his Catholic flock emanate from the fact that in the divorce referendum, thanks to the bishop’s forthright and clear guidance, Gozo voted overwhelmingly against Mr Scicluna’s wishes?
