Country life

Food, history, organic produce, hiking and a benevolent nature that will restore your spirit… Welcome to beautiful Poggio Foco in Tuscany.

Majestically set in 550 hectares of heavenly countryside, Poggio Foco is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Situated high on the Maremma hills, this secluded organic farm boasts imposing views stretching from Monte Amiata right to the beautiful Tuscan seas.

Getting to Poggio Foco is simple. Take a short flight to Fiumicino airport, collect your pre-booked rented car and in not more than 90 minutes driving along the motorway in the direction of Civitavecchia and later towards Manciano, you arrive at your destination. A minimum stay of one week is recommended to explore the raw beauty of the Maremma landscape.

Spanning over an immense stretch of untouched land between the towns of Manciano and Capalbio, far from all the noise and light pollution, the farm and country house are equally distant from the sandy beaches of Ansedonia and the thermal baths of Saturnia, where Poggio Foco guests are eligible to a special discount.

Poggio Foco offers spacious accommodation in captivating self-catering apartments reminiscent of historic cottages. Each attractive apartment is tastefully decorated with antique furniture and guests may truly enjoy their exclusive country residence in peaceful surroundings.

Each individually named apartment has a living room with a fireplace and a television, kitchen and bathroom. The majority have their own private outdoor area with ample space for bringing together family and friends to enjoy relaxing moments over a barbecue.

An agriturismo holiday defines itself as the ideal vacation to spend undisturbed quality time with your loved ones, away from habitual nightspots. Guests are welcome to participate in several activities the farm offers, including guided tours to view the Maremma long-horn cattle and wild boar in their natural habitat.

For the sports enthusiasts, the farm enjoys long stretches of hiking paths and the land is absolute bliss for those who love mountain bike trails. Alternatively, you may opt for a horseback ride through the abundant wilderness or make use of the tennis court, or perhaps the pond for sport fishing. A playground is conveniently hosted for the little ones. Guests can enjoy far-reaching captivating views of vineyards and enchanting Maremma sunsets from the swimming pool, which was designed to fit within the natural landscape.

The farm’s restaurant (open exclusively on Wednesdays and Saturdays) presents a traditional Tuscan menu and all dishes are carefully prepared using its own produce, including organic grains, olive oil, cheese and wine. Poggio Foco raises long-horn cattle and milk-producing sheep and is a haven for wild boar. Other facilities include a wine bar, laundry room and internet access for guests wanting to remain connected to the outside world.

Walking along paths through the countryside, right between the thermal waterfalls you will discover historical remnants – Etruscan necropolises, magnificent Roman villas and breathtaking medieval castles. The landscape offers an expanse of benevolent nature restoring the spirit with the excitement of a rediscovered past.

Warmly greeted by the land owners Ettore and Ida together with the assistance of Irenea, a stay at Poggio Foco ensures absolute relaxation in truly one of the most uncontaminated regions of Italy far from the stress and crowds of the city where time seems to stand still – amazingly uninhabited and relatively (yet) unknown to mass tourism.
